Monday Afternoon Bracket Update: 1/31

What they're saying about Marquette's chances of Dancin' on a snowy Monday afternoon:

Friend of Friends Andy Glockner drops Marquette from an 11 seed in his previous installment of Bubble Watch to a 12 seed, though he rewards the Warriors with (1) a date with Florida and (2) a short trip to Chicago for the first and second rounds. (Andy later acknowledged that he probably goofed on the location; a 90-mile trek is a pretty hefty advantage for a 12 seed.)

SBN's own Chris Dobbertean still has Marquette as one of the last teams to make the tourney, although this was prepared before the weekend triumph over the Orange.

Jerry Palm last updated his bracket before Tuesday's tussle with UConn, but he had Marquette as a 10 seed facing seventh-seeded Sparty in round one. I don't know if the games vs. UConn and Syracuse would've changed Jerry's opinion of Marquette's prospects, but Michigan State doesn't look like a 7 seed after last week's action.

Bracketology 101 sees things in a more positive light, slotting Marquette into a 10 seed with a first-round matchup with Xavier ...

... but ESPN's Joe Lunardi is the most optimistic of the crowd, giving Marquette a 9 seed and a first-round game against No. 8 seeded St. Mary's in Tulsa. (Hey, speaking of: you know what "Tulsa" spelled backwards is, don't you?)
