Another perfect weekend in Big East play, another week with awards for Marquette players!
First up, men's soccer. C. Nortey was named Big East Rookie Of The Week for the 2nd time this season and was also named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's Team Of The Week. Nortey posted his first collegiate hat trick on Saturday against Seton Hall and stands tied for second in the Big East overall with 9 goals.
Calum Mallace joined his teammate in honors from the Big East as he was named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll. Mallace had great luck with free kicks last week, putting one in the net on his own against Georgetown as well as finding Nortey's head twice for goals on free kicks against Seton Hall.
The men's team will get back into action tomorrow night on the road against top ranked Connecticut.
The women's soccer team continued their high profile work this season as senior defender Kerry McBride was named Big East Defender Of The Week. McBride played all 90 minutes of MU's 2-0 shutout of South Florida, the team's 12th shutout of the season. Holding USF to just 4 total shots and only 1 shot on goal helped secure Marquette's third straight American Division title.
In team news, TopDrawerSoccer.com has elevated Marquette's women's team to their #2 overall spot in their projections for the NCAA College Cup.
