An Anonymous Eagle Podcast? A Not-So-Special Edition
We return to our regularly scheduled irrelevance in this week's episode of the AnonyPod: no special guests (at least not in the conventional meaning of the term "special"), although friend of the program Superstitious Bando stopped by to recount a brush with greatness following Marquette's triumph over Seton Hall on Saturday night. Also covered in this edition: seeing if we feel any better about the loss to St. John's; recapping Seton Hall; a 15-second preview of UConn; Brad's baby (stinkily) tries to jinx Nebraska; and a new nickname for former Marquette player Scott Christopherson.
Oh, and as per usual: there's also some light to moderate blasphemy. We apologize in advance.

Do you want to wait until he submits a full game and not just a good half
or are you ready to go now?
I’m not smart enough to look at the other stuff and do anything but drool and mumble.
Now
1. Not that this is exactly saying alot, but he is the best center we’ve had since RJax. Barro was solid by his senior year, but Otule is much more of a shot blocking presence than Ous ever was, so I give Chris the edge right now.
2. I contend that a number of his fouls aren’t his fault. A) Due to our atrocious team defense, the help defenders are needed FAR too often. If our first line defenders don’t give up such easy penetration and back door cuts, our help defenders aren’t put in such bad positions all the time……ie. Otule not having to hack someone in order to prevent an easy bucket. B) (And Something that irks the hell out of me) Moving screens – Buycks is particularly guilty of this one, that is, when Otule is setting a ball screen for him, Dwight moves with the ball before Chris is set in position…..thus setting a moving pick. I’d be wiling to bet 1/3 of his fouls are not his fault
What exactly are your expectations? Jared Sullinger?

Re: point 2:
While the “those fouls aren’t his fault” argument might be true in most of the games, but it wasn’t the case against Seton Hall: dude was just pushing people out of the way at the start of the second half. If he doesn’t do that, I don’t have to make my snarky remark about him playing a full game.
Although I’d probably just make a comment about him playing more than one good game then.

No doubt some of his fouls are head scratchers
But at the same time, while he may be picking up some of these trying to battle down low with the opposing big, these situations have also led to him drawing off the ball fouls on our opponent. I do recall at least 2 fouls on Seton Hall when Chris was trying to get post position. It may not have much meaning with 18 min to play in the 2nd half, but it gets MU that much closer to the bonus.
None of this even mentions the fact that Herb Pope was saddled with foul trouble all night…..something that Otule should at least get some credit for.
If we can keep Otule and Oxman productive
We just need to solidify our PG position, which I think may be helped by bringin Fancy Cornrows off the bench for scoring/secondary ball handling. I think Junior is a better handler since he wasnt really ever a scorer, like Fancy Cornrows, so that mindset helps him control it better..? I dont know really. Im justa ramblin’
and can DJO get some fire in his nostrils…dudes been under 50% in FGs since the loss to nova

Not this year anyways
For next year either Junior is going to have to take a major leap forward, Derrick Wilson is going to have to step in right away, or Vander is going to have to be converted to a PG and be good at it. I don’t know that I consider any of those options to be probable.

I agree with your last sentence
I haven’t seen this Wilson cat play, so I can’t speak to his talents, but he has a legitimate shot at stepping in and being the starting PG
Light to moderate blasphemy?
Did you guys take Gasser’s name in vain again?

But you still should
While blasphemous, it’s also pretty funny.

The injured ref from the Seton Hall game
1) His name is Chris Beaver and StatSheet.com says he mostly referees Horizon, MAC, and C-USA games.
2) Amazingly enough, he has not refereed a game since then.

That's because he can't go into the officials' locker room without getting teased
“How’s your calf strain, Beaver? Are you sure you didn’t strain your… BEAVER!!! Ahahahaha!!!”
“You guys are mean, I’m going home!”
