Tatiyiana McMorris hit a DEEP three with 3 seconds left to lift #24/#23 Marquette over #23/NR St. John's on Saturday night. With the win, the Lady Eagles move to 19-4 overall and 7-3 in the Big East, good enough for 4th place in the Big East.
With the polls updating after the game, Marquette moves to 21st in the AP Poll and somehow goes back a spot in the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll to 24th. Both of these are way behind what math tells us about the women's basketball team, as CollegeRPI.com marks Marquette at #13. CollegeRPI.com's esteemed Jerry Palm has Marquette as a 4 seed in the Dallas region of the NCAA Tournament as of Saturday night, with a first round matchup in Spokane, WA, against current Southern Conference leader Appalachian State.
The women will have the rest of the week off before traveling down I-94 to play the #10/#13 DePaul Blue Demons on Saturday night at 7pm Central in McGrath Arena, DePaul's on campus stadium. DePaul is coming off a 23 point loss at UConn and will play NR/#25 Syracuse in New York tonight.
