5.31 Morning Coffee: Fickell Edition
So the righteous Mr Rogers look of a sweater vest was just for show? I mean, this is college athletics; nobody is really surprised, are they? Most people realize this goes on at every school, right? It's just that most schools are better at hiding it. Note to schools/coaches: Don't lie to the NCAA, they hate that. Considering UW's track record of NCAA violations, I've found the handwringing from their fan base a bit hypocritical.
Tupac ain't dead, he's just chillin' in New Zealand.
The records labels keep wondering why sales are down.
Stop talking and make this happen already.
Weezer covering Radiohead? No thanks.
Huh. I thought Avril Lavigne was dead.
Lots of people went to see The Hangover 2. But they're going to kill it.
If you happen to like Gavin Degraw, he's playing a free show.
Marquette Basketball Related:
Dear DA Chisholm: If you have charges, bring them. Otherwise, shut your yapper. Pathetic grandstanding on his part.
For those of you keeping score at home: Coaches w/ players charged with a crime - Bo Ryan 2, Buzz 0.
The new kids have their numbers chosen.
Help us name Jim Burr.
The women's team landed a recruit.
Huh. JJ Barea was recruited by Marquette.
NY Times story on D-Wade with lots of MU mentions.
Where is the Big East heading?
Catching up with the Big East.
Tex Winter is finally getting his due.
JMFB to the Pistons?
Apparently, we're going after this kid from Chicago.
Bart Lundy gets interviewed here. Fact: Bart Lundy once looked at me with a look that said "Really? You're that stupid?"
Something smells fishy in Indiana and it also includes former Badger Duany Duany.
I still don't understand why this page is still live.

The NCAA is like the FBI:
they can forgive many things, but they do not suffer liars.
We pull our pants up and do our jobs here.
Been forgiven by the FBI a bunch, eh?

Or the Mafia
All this brouhaha over what cap Dawson might wear is silly. Big question: How will he get in? He's not going to walk.
Waiting for Mr. McCarter to claim that tOSU isn't a top job...

After the NCAA gets done with 'em
it’ll be on par with the Indiana basketball job a couple of years ago.
We pull our pants up and do our jobs here.
OSU is so smart.....
They let Terrell Pryor show up to Friday’s presser in a brand new SUV with custom wheels. HELLO!!!!!!!!! OSU should be punished on stupidity alone.
Without a doubt it is right now.
5 years from now could be a different story. Warm weather schools have steadily gained and far surpassed the traditional northern powers (ie. Big10 and Notre Dame) on the football front. If the NCAA lays the smack down on tOSU, that will no doubt hurt them along with the Big10 as a whole as OSU has propped that conference up for years. If OSU slips, where does the national spot light turn to in the Big10?
It's Indiana! It's Indiana!

Considering the bible sized rule book of the NCAA, I find it odd that there isn't a rule addressing "relationships" between Universities and AAU coaches or player's parents/guardians.
It sounds like Indiana has found a convenient loop hole and they’re essentially getting away with ‘recruiting murder’.
Oh, and regarding DA Chisholm
I’d still like to know 1) How did everyone find out it was student athletes and 2) Why is the district attorney mentioning that?

I assume this is rhetorical
since you know exactly how and why it happened.

I have a list of possibilities & crossed off all but 1.
I’m just disappointed I missed the meeting between whichever reporter had it first and their general counsel department.

The reporter?
Why? What did s/he do wrong in this situation?
We pull our pants up and do our jobs here.
Nothing wrong.
Just the “Ok, what if we say [insert term]?” conversation had to have been fun.
