Steve Cottingham Resigns As Marquette Athletic Director.
Not much in the way of details yet.
UPDATE: Here's the statement from the University; it says that Cottingham is leaving to pursue "other interests," and in his resignation letter to Fr. Wild, said: "Although recent events involving a few student-athletes have certainly been a disappointment to me, I leave Marquette with positive feelings and confidence in its future."

I take this 2 ways - and both involve the "recent events" that he refers to
Either….
1. He was totally aware of the “situations” and feels partially responsible for the lack of action and ensuing black eye on the basketball team. Thus he feels its necessary to step down.
or
2. He wasn’t totally aware of the “situations” and is completely disgusted with how they were handled by the coaching staff. Thus he feels its necessary to step down.
