After an enjoyable (and I presume successful) first year, the Scion Dental Milwaukee Pro-Am returns for a second year! I know I had a great time going to the Saturday sessions last summer. Yes, it is a summer league, and the teams are coached by the players on them, and defense is mostly lacking, but it's FREE basketball featuring (most of) YOUR 2011-12 Marquette Golden Eagles, as well as a number of players from recent Marquette history. We also have our first entrant who was enrolled at Wisconsin with Keaton Nankivil's participation. No such luck on any current Badgers participating, as it would risk them discovering fun ways to play basketball.
Games begin tonight at 6:15 pm. Greenfield High School, located at 4800 South 60th Street, is the home for this year's Pro-Am. You can use entrance #7 on the south side of the building. There's two gyms and game start times are staggered. There are games on Saturday as well, starting at 11:30 am. Game schedules and team rosters can be found here and here, respectively.
If you're going to be attending any of the Pro-Am sessions and would like to provide some analysis, feel free to email me (link's in my profile or at the bottom of the page), and we'll see if we can get a wide view of what we're seeing at the Pro-Am from YOU, our loyal readers!
After the jump: Which former and current Golden Eagles are participating. Feel the anticipation!
Your MU participants are Trend Blackledge, Junior Cadougan, Wesley Matthews, Chris Otule, Juan Anderson, Jake Thomas, Jamil Wilson, Davante Gardner, Derrick Wilson, Tommy Brice, Dwight Buycks, Dan Fitzgerald, Chris Grimm, Ousmane Barro, Vander Blue, and Jamail Jones.
Missing from participation is Todd Mayo, Darius Johnson-Odom, and Jae Crowder. I remember seeing in passing on Twitter that Mayo's transcripts are caught in NCAA Clearinghouse hell and he won't be on campus this summer. DJO's been participating in camps all over the country, so I'm guessing he may have more things lined up and won't be available enough to participate. I've got no idea why Crowder's not playing.
