Your Post-Game Jubilation Thread: #25/24 Marquette 62, Pittsburgh 57
Woo! Well, we got through that one. Marquette improves to 3-2 in conference play and jumps all the way up to 6th place for the time being. Pitt drops to 0-5 in the Big East. I don't know if it's Marquette insistence on refusing to jump on a team that they should rip through or what, but Pitt seemed very frisky and could be a dangerous late season spoiler if Tray Woodall gets back.
Then again, I could just be having waking nightmares about Ashton Gibbs being allowed to shoot 50% both inside and outside the arc.
Your thoughts on the game are welcome in the comments section as we assemble a full size recap a little later on.

I want to say:
“Mayo was doing so good Buzz couldnt take him off the floor!” but that is only partially true. He played some solid D in the last couple minutes though…
I made the comment during the game:
“I think Mayo has officially surpassed Vander on the depth chart”
And it’s not hard to understand why at this point. It’s one thing if he’s not scoring, it’s another thing when he’s not scoring, taking bad shots and/or turning over the ball in handfuls on a nightly basis.
I’m all for Mayo getting more time than Vander, but I think I still like Vander starting and Mayo being that offensive spark off the bench
A point saved is as good as a point scored.
But based on everything we’ve seen, I imagine Buzz doesnt agree.

Some people peak earlier than others, I suppose.
I wonder if this can be explained by the “run in the non-con, can’t run in the BE” thing.

Well
That was tough to watch. Im gonna peg it on Pitt trying to make a desperation win on the road come true rather than our team’s sloppiness and inability to guard the opposing star player (cough, wasnt that DJOs/Vanders job?).
A couple box score observations
Nazir Robinson had 7 (!) turnovers – holy moly
Mayo led the good guys with 7 boards
Vander – not a good game for the highly touted one.

I'd like to add:
Pitt: 28 rbd, 11 off
MU: 28 rbd, 12off
Buzz said on the postgame show that Pitt had 6 off boards in the first 5 min. and limited them to 6 more the remaining 30+.
That said, I’m impressed we went blow for blow with the best rebounding team in the nation

We were down 8 with about 11 minutes left. +8 in the last 11(ish) minutes is quite impressive
