Women's Basketball Game 18: Marquette vs. St. John's
When last we left our intrepid heroes, this happened:
THAT. WAS. AWESOME.
We pick things back up today in the Empire State as Marquette (11-6, 2-2 Big East) heads to Madison Square Garden to take on St. John's (11-6, 3-1). Tip off is at 1:15pm.
The Red Storm come into the game riding a 4 game win streak that includes their last three Big East contests. This game will be the second and final time this season that they will play a game in Madison Square Garden. Three players for St. John's average in double digits in scoring, led by junior guard Eugenia McPherson's 14.5 per outing. Fellow junior Shenneika Smith is a guard as well, but stands 6'1" and leads the team in rebounding at 7.4 a game while contributing 12.6 points as well. Freshman forward Amber Thompson is right behind Smith at 7.1 caroms per game, so it seems like Katherine Plouffe and Apiew Ojulu will have their hands full today.
Marquette leads the all time series between the two schools at 6-2. Marquette is only 2-2 while in the state of New York, but has never played St. John's at Madison Square Garden before.
