Marquette Picks Up Two Big East Honorees

For their efforts in last week's contests, Davante Gardner and Katherine Plouffe were named to the men's basketball and women's basketball Big East Honor Rolls on Monday.

Gardner averaged 14.5 points and 10.5 rebounds to help Marquette defeat St. John's and Pittsburgh. Of course, we all remember the 22 point, 15 rebound effort that Big Smooth put up against the Johnnies last Wednesday. Plouffe averaged a double-double as well to push Marquette to wins over Villanova and St. John's. In addition to the 17 points and 11 rebounds that she averaged, Plouffe also chipped in 3 assists and 3 steals in the Villanova game, all of which were needed as the game came down to a buzzer beater from Katie Young (Over/under on times I mention that buzzer beater for the rest of the season is +/- 4.5).
