Looking to avoid a third consecutive loss, Marquette headed to Morgantown last night to take on the Mountaineers of West Virginia. Unfortunately, the Golden Eagles left their shooting touch at home.
Marquette (12-9, 3-5 Big East) made just 10 field goals in the game and just 3 in the second half, letting a 9 point halftime deficit balloon up to 21 by the end of the game as the Golden Eagles fell to West Virginia, 53-32.
Katherine Plouffe led the Golden Eagles in points and rebounds with nine each. Christal Caldwell led WVU (15-6, 5-3 Big East) in scoring with 20 and tied with Ayana Dunning for the team lead for rebounds with 7.
For the third time this season, Sarina Simmons started the game on the bench. Katie Young earned the first starting nod of her career in Simmons' place.
Given that MU's eFG% is a woeful 18.2% for the game, I'm afraid to do the math on the rest of the Four Factors, so we'll just skip to the end.
Up Next: A return to the Al McGuire Center to take on Cincinnati (10-11, 1-7 Big East) on Wednesday night at 7pm. The game will be carried live by Time Warner Sports 32.
