Danielle Carlson and Marquette continued their strong play after the Notre Dame match by plowing their way through DePaul in straight sets.

24 hours after a thrilling come from behind victory in South Bend, Marquette faced off with DePaul in Chicago on Sunday afternoon and came away with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-23) victory. The win leaves Marquette (12-3, 3-0) as one of just two unbeaten teams in Big East play along with Seton Hall, while DePaul falls to 1-3 in the conference.

Marquette used a 6-0 run featuring a pair of combo blocks from Danielle Carlson and Elizabeth Koberstein to seize the advantage and take the first set. The second set was tied as late as 18-18, but Carlson and Koberstein partnered up again, this time in the traditional assist/kill manner. They registered three consecutive points for Marquette which put the Golden Eagles up for good at 23-19. DePaul actually built themselves up to a 20-16 lead in the third set before Marquette ran off four straight points, including two kills from Lindsey Gosh, to tie things up and take the momentum to carry them to the match victory.

Holly Mertens followed up her strong showing against Notre Dame by leading MU in kills with 13. Koberstein recorded her third double-double of the season with 36 assists and 10 digs.

Here's some highlights along with a post match interview with Coach Shymansky:

Up Next: Pittsburgh comes to the Al McGuire Center on Friday night. Keep your eyes on Marquette's social media outlets for opportunities for that match.
