The main difference between the two schedules is that Marquette was able to work out a full Big East schedule with the rest of the schools in the conference. These games will not count as conference matches, though, as Marquette will not officially join the Big East for lacrosse until the 2013-14 school year. On the upside, this means that the women's team will be playing a lot more home games than the men's team. Coach Meredith Black's crew will have seven home dates, including the home finale against Loyola (MD), who picked up the #6 seed in the 2012 NCAA tournament. The Greyhounds are one of three 2012 NCAA tournament teams on the schedule, along with 2012 runner-up Syracuse and Notre Dame.
The women's lacrosse team will open their inaugural season on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Winthrop. Their first home match at Valley Fields will be on Saturday, February 23, as they host Duquesne. The rest of the home schedule is rounded out by Detroit, Harvard, Villanova, Rutgers, and Georgetown.
