The Golden Eagles closed out the regular season with a home win over the Huskies.
Marquette picked up a 3-1 (28-26, 25-15, 15-25, 25-12) win over Northern Illinois last night, moving their season record to 27-6.
The NIU match was the last one of the regular season for the Golden Eagles, but they will find out their NCAA Tournament future today at 3pm. The NCAA Selection Show will be broadcast on ESPNU, and the team will be hosting a viewing party at the Sports Annex starting at 2:30pm.
Marquette outhit NIU .305 to .176, and their only power outage of the match came when NIU jumped out to a 10-1 lead to start the third set, leading to a easy 25-15 set win for the Huskies. Seniors Holly Mertens and Danielle Carlson both had 12 kills to lead MU in their final home contest. Julie Jeziorowski extended her all time program record for digs with a team best 27.
