Here at Anonymous Eagle, we're hip to all the latest trends on the internet... or so we tell ourselves. We know how much the kids today like to keep in touch and communicate through social media. In particular, we're big fans of the service known the world over as Twitter. Each week, we'll bring you a tweet that we found particularly interesting/funny/thought provoking/ridiculous that has some kind of Marquette connection to it.
The men's soccer team opens their season on Friday night with a match over on the east side of Milwaukee against UW-Milwaukee. This will be the 41st Milwaukee Cup match and it's a rare example of a derby in NCAA soccer. While UWM holds a 27-10-3 all time record in the series, things currently stand knotted at 3-3-1 since Louis Bennett left his spot as UWM head man to take the coaching job at Marquette.
Needless to say, it's a big deal. That's why it's nice to see this bit of info about getting Golden Eagles supporters out to Engelmann Field:
You can tell they're serious about invading Englemann Field given that the still image that currently makes up their Twitter user picture is the same one as at the top of this page. It comes from the closing seconds of last year's Milwaukee Cup match:
Mmmmm, buzzer beater flavored. That Sebastian Jansson bicycle kick never gets old.
