Here at Anonymous Eagle, we're hip to all the latest trends on the internet... or so we tell ourselves. We know how much the kids today like to keep in touch and communicate through social media. In particular, we're big fans of the service known the world over as Twitter. Each week, we'll bring you a tweet that we found particularly interesting/funny/thought provoking/ridiculous that has some kind of Marquette connection to it.
One of the more exciting developments of this past weekend was the debut of volleyball's Autumn Bailey. The freshman outside hitter posted 19 kills against Bowling Green and then 26 kills against #13 BYU, the highest kills total by any MU player since 2007. That brought about this tweet:
Sadly, due to NCAA restrictions, the university won't ever be selling a product with an athlete's name on it. But can you imagine the shirt? Navy blue, with a gold "AUTUMN IS COMING" in a Game Of Thrones-style font on the front? Super sweet.
For now we'll just have to settle with using the hashtag on Twitter whenever we reference an outstanding play by Bailey or an upcoming MU volleyball match.
It's worth noting that the Big East has recognized Bailey's gaudy debut, as she was named Freshman Of The Week for the opening week of competition. Bailey currently leads the Big East with 5 kills/set, and her team high 3.33 digs/set isn't that far off of 10th place in the Big East as well.
Marquette returns to action on Friday night when they host #3 USC at the Al McGuire Center in their first match of the Marquette Challenge.
