Per Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:
Y! Sources: As backcourt injuries pile up, the Boston Celtics will sign D-League's Vander Blue to 10-day contract. http://t.co/rMEJoiK2SE

The former Marquette guard was recently released by Maccabi Rishon of the Israeli League after averaging 11 points, three rebounds, and three assists in seven appearances and then earning multiple "Did Not Play-Coach's Decision" outings. At the time, Joe McCann of the Scrambled Eggs podcast and I had joked about the cause of Blue's release. I figured there was a bigger issue than basketball going on (likely that Israel might not be super fun) and Joe joked that Blue had a handshake agreement with an NBA team.
After being released by Rishon, Blue entered the NBDL player pool and was acquired by the Delaware 87ers, the D-League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers. As Blue was with the Sixers for training camp, this made perfect sense. Blue played in four games for the Seveners, and had a 35 point outing against the Erie Bayhawks in his last appearance, chipping in six rebounds, four assists, and a steal as well.
So, the only question is: How familiar is the Celtics front office with Vander Blue? Well, let's see, current Celtics head coach Brad Stevens coached Butler last year, so he had a front row view of Blue's MAN SIZED performance against them in the NCAA tournament last year. Of course, it's also possible that Stevens wanted to sign Blue just to razz him about Butler's win over Marquette last Saturday.
To maximize Blue's availability for the Celtics, I imagine he won't sign the contract until sometime today, and he would be available for their game tonight against the Washington Wizards. The Celtics will play five games during the length of Blue's 10 day contract, so keep your eyes on CelticsBlog for more as it develops.
