Here at Anonymous Eagle, we're hip to all the latest trends on the internet... or so we tell ourselves. We know how much the kids today like to keep in touch and communicate through social media. In particular, we're big fans of the service known the world over as Twitter. Each week, we'll bring you a tweet that we found particularly interesting/funny/thought provoking/ridiculous that has some kind of Marquette connection to it.
It's officially the offseason now that 1) the NCAA Tournament is over and 2) Marquette has a head coach. We're going to have to get by on what little of the lacrosse season is left and otherwise entertaining ourselves, at least until the soccer season starts in August. While we have an iron or two in the fire, we may as well try to figure out what's going to happen on the opening day of the basketball season.
@AnonymousEagle @trebby @PaintTouches Would it surprise if Wojo's Game 1 starters for #mubb were Du. Wilson, Mayo, JJJ, Bane & Taylor?

Here's the thing: the answer is both yes and no. As far as "yes, it would surprise," one year ago tomorrow, Vander Blue declared himself eligible for the NBA Draft. At this point a year ago, we were still three days from Jake Thomas announcing that he would return to Marquette instead of transferring, and more than a month away from Juan Anderson announcing that he would not transfer either. Needless to say, we're still a long distance from being sure that we know what the roster for the first game of the 2014-2015 season will be, and that's without even taking into account that we don't know for sure what new head coach Steve Wojciechowski will do with the scholarship that was freed up by Marial Shayok getting released.
But, presuming that everyone will return as expected at this point and let's say that both Ahmed Hill and Satchel Pierce don't ask for their release (because, really, it's been two weeks), that line up wouldn't surprise me at all. Really, no line up would surprise me at all. We have no idea at this point as to how Wojo views his roster, nor do we understand how he wants to deploy said roster. If you were going to make me pick a lineup, that's probably the one that I would go with at this point. The era of Buzz Williams' loyalty to Derrick Wilson is over, and given that Wojciechowski has to have the long term future in mind at this point, there's really no reason to not hand the keys over to Duane Wilson. Slotting Todd Mayo, Jajuan Johnson, and Deonte Burton in just makes sense at this point, and Taylor's the closest thing to a center Marquette has until Luke Fischer gets eligible in December.
Thoughts?
