3 Marquette Players Earn Big East Weekly Recognition

First, Aubrey Hamilton is Offensive Player of the Week:

Hamilton led the Golden Eagles to a pair of sweeps over DePaul and No. 15 Creighton. The BIG EAST preseason favorites remain perfect in conference play (6-0) and are the only team undefeated in league competition. On the week, Hamilton hit a combined .364 with 24 kills (4.00/set) across six sets, adding 12 digs (2.00/set) and three blocks. In Wednesday’s midweek matchup versus DePaul, Hamilton hit .346 with 11 kills, nine digs, and a block. During Friday’s sweep of No. 15 Creighton, the senior registered a match-best 13 kills on .379 hitting with an ace, three digs, and two blocks.

Next, Hattie Bray is Defensive Player of the Week:

Bray powered a Marquette defense that refused to relinquish a set this week, defeating conference rivals DePaul and No. 15 Creighton in straight sets. She contributed 1.50 blocks per set to a Marquette frontline that averaged 3.00 blocks per frame. Against DePaul, Bray registered a team-high four blocks before producing a match-best five blocks against No. 15 Creighton. Furthermore, Bray hit .343 on the week, highlighted by a ten-kill performance versus No. 15 Creighton on .412 hitting.

Next, Sarah Kushner made the Weekly Honor Roll:

Kushner averaged 4.67 digs per set in a 2-0 week for Marquette, highlighted by sweeps of DePaul and No. 15 Creighton. The graduate student notched a match-high 16 digs in Friday’s win over the Jays.

Hamilton led the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 week with 29 kills (4.14set), 12 digs (1.72/set), five blocks and two service aces. Her 13 and 16 kills against UConn (W, 3-1) and Providence (W, 3-0), respectively, were both match bests.

Mikki Easter Named Goalkeeper of the Week

Easter earns Goalkeeper of the Week honors following an impressive string of games on the week. The senior keeper was dominant in Marquette’s 3-1 win over Creighton on Thursday, matching her career-high with eight stops. She then followed up her performance with a six-save clean sheet in a 0-0 draw at UConn on Sunday. Her shutout on Sunday was her fourth of the season, and she now sits second in the BIG EAST in total saves with 42. The Golden Eagles now have a 2-1-1 conference record and have gone 3-1-2 over their last six games thanks in large part to Easter’s efforts.

It's 18 games instead of the full 20 game round robin. Marquette will only play Georgetown and Providence once each. More on this on Thursday when the league office publishes the full schedule.

Hattie Bray & Aubrey Hamilton On Big East Weekly Honor Roll

Here's what the league office said about Bray:

Bray registered 18 kills and a BIG EAST-best 12 blocks in Marquette sweeps of Villanova and Georgetown. She was the lone competitor this week to rank among the top ten in three separate categories including blocks (1st, 2.00/set), hitting (8th, .400), and kills (10th, 3.00/set).

Hamilton ranked second in hitting (.600) and third in kills (4.17/set) among BIG EAST competitors this week as the Golden Eagles defeated Villanova (W, 3-0) and Georgetown (W, 3-0).
