Ludwig Malberg named Goalkeeper of the Week
Here's what the league office said about the Swede: A stalwart in net for the Golden Eagles, Målberg improved to 4-0-0 on the season with a pair of shut out victories over Detroit Mercy (6-0) and Harvard (1-0). In the lopsided victory on Friday, the sophomore goalkeeper came up big on five saves, while facing 11 shots. On Monday, Målberg denied each of Harvard’s scoring opportunities, while corralling two saves. Overall, he has 15 saves in a quartet of games with a 0.882 save percentage, along with three consecutive shut outs. In addition to that, Noah Madrigal made the Big East Weekly Honor Roll after a pair of goals and an assist against Detroit Mercy.

Brooklyn Merl named Big East Offensive Player of the Week
Here's what the league office said about him: Leading the offensive attack for Marquette, forward Brooklyn Merl tied for the league-high with six points in a pair of wins for the Golden Eagles. Trailing 2-1 in the season opener against Drake on Thursday, Merl broke through the Bulldogs’ backline off an assist from Mitar Mitrovic to punch in the equalizer in an eventual 3-2 win. On Sunday, the native of Cologne, Germany, stuffed the stat sheet with a goal and a pair of assists to lead Marquette to a 3-0 home win over Purdue Fort-Wayne. Merl opened the game with an assist just two minutes into the second half, before finding the back of the net in the 56th minute, extending the lead to two. Three minutes later, he connected with Mitar Mitrovic for the Golden Eagles’ third goal of the game.
