For the second consecutive year, Marquette will be the host for the Big East's season ending volleyball tournament. Pitt was supposed to be the host, but as it turns out, when you're leaving the conference in 10 months, the conference tends to not let you have nice things.

With the men's and women's soccer schedules out for this fall, I thought I'd check to see if I missed the release of the volleyball schedule. I haven't, but I did find this posting on GoMarquette.com from Wednesday. The incoming class for this fall, consisting of middle hitter and PrepVollyball.com Top 100 Senior Ace Jackie Kocken, middle hitter Meghan Niemann, outside hitter Erin Lehman, defensive specialist Ellie Rauch and setter Mary Nilles, have earned Coach Shymansky and his staff Marquette's first ever top 30 recruiting class from PrepVolleyball.com! I'm not a volleyball recruiting insider by any means, but having 3 top players from Wisconsin alone (Kocken, Niemann, & Lehman) could mean good things for the future of Marquette's program.

The Marquette senior outside hitter has signed a contract to play professional volleyball in the Swedish Elitserien! Beyer's the third Marquette player in the last two years to sign professional contracts after Nikki Klingsporn and Rabbecka Gonyo. Congratulations and good luck to Ashley!
