One last non-conference game before the meat grinder. Or pressure cooker. Or whatever kitchen-related metaphor you want to use.

OTHER KEY STATS AND WHIMSY
- Vanderbilt shooting percentages (2010-'11): FG: 47.7%; 3PT: 38.7%; FT: 71.4%
- Are you like me: struggling to find something that Vanderbilt doesn't do well? They shoot well, they rebound well, they defend well (18th in the nation in adjusted defensive efficiency, 15th in the nation in eFG% on defense) ... I guess it's assistisisting: only 168 helpers on the year, resulting in a team assist-to-turnover ratio of about 1:1. They also don't steal the ball all that much, with only 65 thefts on the year.
- I'm sure you've heard this by now, but Memorial Gym is a very tough place to win. In the 518 years since the Gym was built (OK, it's actually only 59 years old), Vandy has put together a 701-188 home record.
In fact, the only thing that Vandy likes more than playing at home is shooting threes: since the three-point arc was instituted in the 1986-'87 season, the Commodores have made at least one triple in every game they've played. That's 773 consecutive games, if you're scoring at home.
BEER OF THE GAME
Vandy's "Anchor of Gold" blog has made me thirsty for San Francisco's Anchor Steam beer. Sadly, I've forgotten the precise variation of Anchor Steam that I had when Mrs. Q and I were in San Francisco a few years back, but I remember that I drank a lot of it. And if Marquette is getting crushed on the boards by the Commodores tonight, I'll probably repeat that trick.
Enjoy the game, and bring me home a winner.
