Marquette 80, Villanova 76

Annnnnd the 2010 Cardiac Arrest Tour rolls on.

Behind an NBA JAM "Oh my, he's on fire!"-level performance from Darius Johnson-Odom, Marquette snuck out of Madison Square Garden with an 80-76 upset of Villanova and the impossibly well-groomed Jay Wright.  As per usual, the outcome wasn't decided until the final seconds of the game, when Lazar Hayward persuaded two free throws to find the bottom of the net.  With the win, Marquette advances to the semifinals of the Big East tournament for the second time.

The beat moves on to the suddenly rejuvenated Georgetown Hoyas, who smacked the Syracuse Orange in the mouth in the opener of the afternoon's festivities.  All those backdoor cuts are going to be murder on the Eagles' tired legs, but, whatever -- that's tomorrow's problem.  The tip is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. tomorrow, so you can enjoy your beer in the comfort of your own home, instead of covertly at your desk.  And for those of you in New York, 'Cuse's early exit means there should be plenty of fine seats available.

Quickly, onto the award section:

Most Valuable Player: Goes to all of you who stopped by the Game Thread.  We're 1-0 with your participation.  If you come back for every game, we won't lose again for five years.  That's just science.

Joe Chapman Unsung Hero Award: Goes to David Cubillan, who's somehow put up back-to-back double-digit scoring games in his last BEast tourney.

The SpongeBob SquarePants "Get that Guy a Squeegee" Award: Goes to Coach Buzz.  Easy on the suits there, coach.  That's imported silk.  You can't be sweating through silk like that.

Til tomorrow: RING OUT AHOYA.
