With the non-conference segment of the season in full swing, it's the responsibility of every fan of every Big East team to cheer for the other 15 teams in their games. The more games the Big East wins now, the better everyone looks when the conference schedule starts and the losses are possible every night out.
Therefore, it's our repsonsibility to keep you advised as to the biggest matchups that the other 15 Big East teams are involved in each week. We call this feature the Big East Big Five. Clever, huh? Let's hit the matchups, in chronological order (all times Central):
Tuesday, November 15: Rutgers at Miami (6pm, ESPN3.com) - The Hurricanes may be a a team in transition with new head coach Jim Larranaga, but it's a legit road game against KenPom's 3rd best ACC team for the Scarlet Knights.
Thursday, November 17: Seton Hall vs VCU (4:30pm, ESPNU) - The Pirates travel to the 4th annual Charleston Classic, an event that Georgetown won last year. Unfortunately, they drew Shaka Smart and the Rams making their first major television appearance since last year's Final Four.
Thursday, November 17: St. John's vs. Arizona (8pm, ESPN2) - Arizona will provide a stiff test for Steve Lavin's squad as they try to be the third straight Big East team to win the 2K Sports Classic following Pittsburgh and Syracuse.
Saturday, November 19: Louisville at Butler (1pm, ESPN3.com) - Rick Pitino takes his team to Hinkle Fieldhouse to face Brad Stevens' two time national runner up Bulldogs. Fun Fact: Cardinals freshman Chane Benehan is averaging 12 points and 12 rebounds after 2 games, so look forward to hating that guy by the end of the 2012-13 season.
Saturday, November 19: South Florida vs Old Dominion (1pm, ESPN3.com) - The Bulls travel to Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut for the Naismith Memorial Hall Of Fame Tipoff and draw CBSSports.com's pick to win the Colonial as their opening game matchup. Winner gets to get kicked in the face by Kentucky!
