2011 NCAA Volleyball Championship: Illinois 3, Marquette 0

You can't even feel that bad about it.

After making their first ever NCAA Championship and winning their first ever NCAA Championship match, Marquette was bound to run into a buzzsaw, and they did. Their second round opponent was NCAA 3 seed Illinois. The Illini came into the match ranked #7 in the country and to top it off, they were designated the host for the pod that Marquette was assigned to.

Amidst a partisan crowd of 2,075, Illinois defeated Marquette in straight sets, 25-13, 25-23, 25-22, and were led by Colleen Ward's 10 kills.

Marquette got double digit kills from both Danielle Carlson and Ciara Jones with 11 and 10 respectively. Chelsea Heier chipped in 33 assists and Julie Jeziorowski had 18 digs.

Illinois moves on to take on their conference mate, Ohio State in the Sweet 16. The Buckeyes advanced by clipping NCAA 14 seed Tennessee.
