Your Sweet Sixteen Thursday Open Thread

It's a smaller offering than you're used to after last weekend's buffet of basketball goodness, but there's still plenty to watch tonight:

Up first, it's No. 2 San Diego State vs. No. 3 UConn from the Honda Center in Anaheim.  Tip is set for 6:15 p.m. CDT on CBS, with Uncle Verne Lundquist and Bill Raftery on the call, and Leslie Visser (and three of her cats) on the sidelines.

About fifteen minutes after that, TBS brings you No. 2 Florida and the Jimmers of No. 3 Brigham Young from New Orleans.  Gus Johnson -- who was recently given express verbal consent to use Dan Patrick's "en fuego" and "cool as the other side of the pillow" in his play-by-play -- and Len Elmore have the call, along with Dee Snider from Twisted Sister.  (What's that?  I'm sorry; I'm told it's MARTY Snider, not Dee.  My apologies.)

The second game in Anaheim (tipping half-an-hour after the conclusion of SDSU vs. UConn) features No. 1 Duke and No. 5 Arizona.  You'd expect 'Zona to enjoy a healthy home-ish court advantage in this one, but as someone who just spent a week in that gorgeous state, lemme tell you: they don't care about what 'Zona's doing. At least in Phoenix.

Up last, it's a retelling of the children's tale of the Tortoise and the Hare, 'cept there's two tortoises involved: No. 4 Wisconsin gets in the mud with eighth-seeded dragon-slayer Butler.  This peach basket affair might end Gus Johnson's life, so be sure to tune in to TBS around 9:00 p.m. CDT.

Enjoy the games.
