The Marquette volleyball team fell to #14 Northern Iowa Monday night in straight sets, 25-18, 25-13, 26-24. The loss evens the Golden Eagles record on the season at 2-2. Middle hitter Danielle Carlson had the team high in kills with 13. The Panthers used two 8-0 runs to take the first set and a 10-4 early lead in the second set to put Marquette on the verge of defeat. The Golden Eagles showed resolve to start the third set, starting out with a 15-9 lead before letting UNI back in, allowing the Panthers to finally take their first lead of the set at 25-24 before finally winning.
In women's soccer news, Ally Miller tacked on Big East Defender of the Week honors to go along with her 2011 MKE Cup MVP award and GoMarquette.com's Student-Athlete of the Week title. Teammate Rachael Sloan was named to the weekly conference honor roll after recording 4 points in 2 games, including a goal and two assists against Saint Louis.

And as I already posted, the MU athletics department posted a sneak peek of the new Jordan Brand uniforms that the men's basketball will be wearing this year. Subtle changes, but very interesting none the less.
