The home end of the Big East schedule opens up tonight at 7pm for Marquette's women's basketball team (9-6, 0-2 Big East) as the Pirates of Seton Hall (7-9, 0-2) arrive in the Al McGuire Center. If you were looking for something to do on the cheap tonight in the Milwaukee area, then this is your lucky day! It's DOLLAR NIGHT at the Al, with general admission tickets, hot dogs and sodas all for $1 each! For those of you out of town, GoMarquette.com will have a video stream of the game available with Kyle Dlabay and Armen Saryan on the call.
Seton Hall had the same problem to start the Big East season that Marquette did: two nationally ranked opponents that led to two losses. The Pirates had a little more trouble than Marquette, as they did not manage to crack 40 points in either the matchup with #2 Connecticut or #3 Notre Dame. The loss to the Irish was SHU's 4th in a row, following home losses to William & Mary and Howard and a road loss against Memphis. Senior guard Jasmine Crew leads Seton Hall in scoring with 19.8 points per game, which is also good enough for 2nd best in the Big East. Senior center Tajay Ashmeade dominates the rebounding for the Pirates with 8.2 per contest, 7th best in the Big East.
On the Marquette side of the ball, Gabi Minix has picked up her scoring as of late. Twice in the last three games, she's set a new career high while scoring in double digits in all three outings. A reliable third option after Katherine Plouffe and Sarina Simmons would be a welcome addition to this lineup.
