The Big East announced today that Marquette senior forward Jae Crowder was named the Big East Player Of The Week. Believe it or not, this is the first time in his two seasons at Marquette that Crowder has earned this honor.
Marquette played just one game during the week, but the Absolut Weapon was so great in that game, he still managed to outdo the entire rest of the league. As we discussed repeatedly, Crowder recorded a double-double with 29 points and 12 rebounds against Connecticut on Saturday and added an assist and his now seemingly standard three steals.
I wonder what he has in store for an encore on Wednesday night against Rutgers?
As for the rest of the awards, South Florida's Anthony Collins was named Rookie Of The Week and Dion Dixon (G, Cincinnati), Hollis Thompson (F, Georgetown), Jack Cooley (F, Notre Dame), CJ Fair (F, Syracuse), and Kevin Jones (F, West Virginia) were all named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
