49% free throw shooter Ron Anderson hit both ends of a one-and-one to give South Florida the lead. Cashmere Wright came down and got a rather easy layup to give Cincinnati the lead. Anthony Collins drove into the trees and came out with a foul and made both free throws to give South Florida the lead. Judicious use of one last timeout and two fouls to give by Stan Heath and his defense stopped Cincinnati from getting one last shot off.
All of this gave South Florida a 46-45 win in a game that was largely offensive to watch. A combined eFG% of 40.4%? BLEH.
None of this actually matters, though.
As announced by the Big East immediately after the game, the win by the Bulls allows YOUR Marquette Golden Eagles to clinch no worse than 4th place in the regular season standings.
