Earlier this afternoon, Whitefish Bay (WI) Dominican High School junior Duane Wilson announced his verbal commitment to play for head coach Buzz Williams and YOUR Marquette Golden Eagles. Wilson is a 6'3" point guard in the class of 2013 rated as a 92 on ESPN.com and ranked #94 in the country by Scout.com. He chose Marquette over Missouri and Memphis. Wilson joins Milwaukee Vincent forward Deonte Burton in Marquette's 2013 recruiting class.

It's been a busy week for Wilson, as his Dominican HS team defeated Cuba City in the WIAA Division 4 Championship over the weekend. Wilson scored 24 points - including 5-8 behind the arc - and added 4 assists and 4 steals to propel the Knights to the title. Wilson averaged 17.7 points, 5.6 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 3.3 steals for his junior year campaign as the state tournament started.

The commitment of Wilson both provides answers and raises questions for Marquette. It solidifies the point guard position as Wilson will enter immediately after the departure of Junior Cadougan and seems to bring a close to Marquette's recruiting for the class of 2013. The questions start with the eligibility of center Chris Otule. Otule is scheduled to finish his eligibility with the 2012-13 season, but Buzz has previously mentioned that the team will attempt to get Otule approved for an sixth year. For that to happen along with the arrival of Burton and Wilson, one member of the returning team or the recruiting class for this fall will have to not be a part of the team. We'll have to keep our eyes on that going forward.
