Abu! This Is No Time To Panic: Marquette Releases Statement, Calms Fears

Moments ago, ESPN's Andy Katz reported that everyone was freaking out for no good reason, as Marquette head coach Buzz Williams will remain head coach for the foreseeable future.

This is, of course, surprising no one who bothered to calmly think about this for a moment.

This was followed by an official release from the university including quotes from both Buzz Williams and Marquette University Vice President and Director of Athletics Larry Williams.

First, from Buzz:

I want to thank all of our fans, alumni, students and administration who provided incredible support throughout our second consecutive Sweet 16 run. We are already looking forward to next season with a core group of returning players, while welcoming new recruits into the Marquette family. I am excited to build on our past success and we will continue to work to be the absolute best we can be. The future remains bright for our program, and our institution.

And from Larry Williams, who is apparently going about his job honestly and is not a Notre Dame mole attempting to destroy the universe:

Coach Williams is a good man, great coach and I look forward to working with him in the coming years. As we move forward, we want to make sure we stay focused on the rich history and core values that underpin this very unique program - among the elite in the nation - by continuing to emphasize our mission of remarkable success on the court and the classroom.

The university's statement closes by saying that neither Williams will make any further comments on the matter, which means we can rip any reporter who attempts any goofy rumor about Buzz leaving for the rest of the offseason.
