Marquette head coach Buzz Williams handed out Sweet 16 rings to the returning members of his staff and his team last night at the Buzz's Barbecue event. There was one noticeable exception to that if you were counting the number of players that Buzz introduced, and no, I'm not referring to the absence of Scott Monarch, Buzz's only returning full time assistant coach. This morning, Paint Touches got the scoop on that exception.
Guard Todd Mayo has been suspended from basketball activities for a violation of team rules, a source confirmed. No timetable for his return

No word on when Mayo's suspension began/how long it will be/what he did. Not going to speculate on what happened, but could be out a while.

So there's that, then.
Since I only have the wording and phrasing that PT passed along, it's even more impossible for me to speculate about anything. I have only two thoughts on this: 1) Based on the suspension from "basketball activities," it would seem that Todd Mayo is still enrolled at Marquette, and 2) This certainly sheds an interesting light on the number of 2013 guard recruits that Buzz seems to have interest in.
