With weekend wins over #23 Michigan, Eastern Illinois and Wake Forest, Marquette won their own Golden Eagle Classic tournament over the weekend. Both Marquette and Michigan finished the weekend 3-1, but by defeating the Wolverines and having a better overall record in the sets played, the Golden Eagles were declared champions.

Three Golden Eagles were named to the all-tournament team with Danielle Carlson leading the way as MVP. Carlson finished second in the tournament in hitting percentage at .449. Elizabeth Koberstein and Julie Jeziorowski both joined Carlson on the all-tournament team by posting the best average assists (11.67) and digs (4.47) on the weekend respectively.

With the three wins and a Sunday afternoon nail biting five set loss to #25 Northern Iowa, Marquette moves to 7-2 on the season and is now receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches' Poll.

Up Next: Marquette hosts their third tournament of the season as Pacific, Iowa, and UW-Milwaukee come to the Al McGuire Center next weekend. Marquette opens play with Pacific on Friday night.
