The game tips off at the Al McGuire Center at 3pm on Saturday afternoon. It will be on SNY as well, and broadcast locally on Time Warner Sports 32.
Marquette is looking to bounce back from a closer than it looked 92-79 loss to Syracuse in their Big East opener. Sarina Simmons had a career high 24 to pace the Golden Eagles in that outing.
Connecticut comes in to this game ranked #2/3 in the country, with their only loss coming to #3/2 Notre Dame back on Saturday. They did bounce back from that loss with a blowout win over Georgetown on Wednesday. Four Huskies average in double digits, led by 16.3 points from sophomore forward Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis. Freshman forward Breanna Stewart leads UConn in rebounding with 7.3 boards per contest.
One last note: UConn coach Geno Auriemma might be disappointed in the lack of a student section for this game, since the residence halls won't open up tiil Sunday morning. Auriemma had this to say in 2007 about the student section, which is about 6 feet away from the end of the visiting team's bench:
It can never be worse than Rutgers. Actually, these kids were fun. Rutgers, they're just downright obnoxious. At least these kids have something to be proud of. Rutgers fans, they're just born miserable and they stay miserable all their life.
