1.24 Around The Big East

Before we get to the Big East games, go read the SB Nation recap of everything from last night, including Duke getting poleaxed by Miami with GIFs of both coaches, Butler getting courtstormed one game after a court storming of their own, Northwestern (!) getting a resume building win (!), Creighton getting popped by Drake, a Drexel 50 footer to win, Lehigh taking control of the Patriot League, Northeastern and William & Mary going to two overtimes, and Southern Miss recording their highest score since joining Conference USA. SHEESH.

Seton Hall 55, South Florida 47 - Brandon Mobley returned after missing a game with a separated shoulder and scored eight of his 14 points in the second half to hold off the Bulls and break a four game Pirates losing streak. I'm going to make a suggestion to South Florida: STOP SHOOTING THREE POINTERS. 2-10 in the first half is not going to win you ball games, especially when you go 1-9 in the second half. St. John's 72, Rutgers 60 - It turns out Chris Obekpa is a mere mortal. For the first time all season, Oblockpa, who already has the SJU single season blocks record, was held without a swatted shot. But offense carried the day for the Red Storm, as JaKarr Sampson fired in 21 points, including 13 in the second half, and D`Angelo Harrison added 20. SJU now has part of a three way tie for fourth place in the Big East and a double bye in the Big East tournament. Rumble In The Garden and On The Banks are the places to go for more insight.
