With Marquette Madness scheduled for this weekend, it only made sense that Marquette would bring in their top recruits for 2014 for official (read as: MU foots the bill) visits. Such was the case with verbal commit Sandy Cohen, as well as Ahmed Hill, Tory Miller, and Marial Shayok. When you bring in top recruits for such a high energy event, you can expect a domino or two to fall.
Such was the case on Saturday afternoon, as Paint Touches broke the news:
Ahmed Hill has committed to Marquette, a source told Paint Touches. Big news for the Golden Eagles. #mubb

Hill himself later confirmed the news:
Thanks to all the fans an coaches that have supported me through this process it's been a great run, but I have committed to Marquette!!

Hill is a 6'4", 190 lb. shooting guard from Augusta, Georgia, where he attends Aquinas High School. Aquinas went 22-7 last year and reached the state semifinals in the Class A Private division before falling 62-59 to St. Francis. Hill was held scoreless in the first quarter of that game, but still finished with 29 points.
What I found interesting is the reason why Hill attends Aquinas. He went to Peach County for his freshman year, but transferred to Aquinas before his sophomore year. Hill knew he was already attracting recruiting attention and didn't want anything to stand in his way of landing on the biggest stage possible. Aquinas made sense for him due to the private school's academic reputation, and it's worked. He's improved his grade point average since enrolling at Aquinas.
Hill is ranked 51st in the class of 2014 by ESPN, 69th by Rivals, 73rd by Scout, and 60th by 247 Sports. I found the ranking history chart on 247 Sports' site charting his ranking to be interesting. He's taken a massive dip in the rankings since May, diving from in the 20s in both their ranking and their composite ranking, which is their aggregation of the major recruiting evaluation services. There's a number of possibilities for that fall, but odds are it's not for lack of effort on his part if Buzz Williams is interested in him.
Hill joins Sandy Cohen and Malek Harris in verbally committing to Marquette's recruiting class for the fall of 2014. All three will be able to sign national letters of intent starting on November 13th.
With four scholarship seniors on the roster, Marquette still has one scholarship left to fill for next fall. Given the relative physical similarities between Hill, Cohen, and Harris, odds are that Buzz is looking to find a Real Dude with a bit of size to him. Combining the two prospects lists from ESPN and 247 Sports, odds are Buzz's efforts being focused on the aforementioned Tory Miller (6'8", 230), a power forward from Missouri, and Satchel Pierce (7', 250), a center from Ohio.
