Duane Wilson Expected To Miss Multiple Weeks With Left Leg Stress Fracture

That sounds less than fun.

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

On Monday afternoon, the athletic department took to Twitter and Facebook to make an announcement regarding freshman guard Duane Wilson:

Well, at least this came out before we published our Player Preview for the freshman Wilson so we can adjust accordingly.

Wilson seemed to be the obvious choice to get first crack at minutes backing up junior point guard Derrick Wilson. Now Buzz Williams will have to turn to less heralded freshman John Dawson as an option at point guard, as well as possibly looking at Todd Mayo to paper over any extra minutes. Mayo was an obvious candidate for one of the starting spots on the perimeter, so this could cause a chain reaction in how minutes are distributed early on, which could in turn open some possibilities for freshmen JaJuan Johnson and Deonte Burton.

For what it's worth, "multiple weeks" would seem to indicate at least a 14 day span. Marquette opens the season against Southern on November 8, which is currently 18 days away.
