OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY!

After a 26 month wait since the formal announcement, Marquette begins its official foray into Division 1 lacrosse TONIGHT when the women's lacrosse team plays Winthrop! Game time is 5pm Central, and you can keep track of live stats here. If you want to cough up some cash, Winthrop will be streaming the game here.

Tonight's game against Winthrop is just the third women's lacrosse game in Winthrop history and their first ever home game. Since Winthrop is just launching their program, this will provide a great opportunity for the Golden Eagles to get an idea of where they stand in their development as a team. Winthrop went 1-1 last weekend, with a 20-10 victory over Howard in their first ever game and with the loss coming at the hands of Navy by a score of 23-4. Freshman Haley Krause has the early lead in goal scoring for the Eagles with five goals in their first two contests. Krause also earned Big South Offensive Player Of The Week honors for her efforts. Fellow freshman Megan Wallenhorst was named Big South Freshman Of The Week for her four goals and three assists in the Eagles' two games, including Winthrop's first ever goal in the game against Howard. Freshman Camille King played a majority of minutes in net for Winthrop last week, accruing a goals against average of 15.73 and a save percentage of .391.

Sunday brings the second game in Marquette women's lacrosse history, as the Golden Eagles travel 200 miles to the east to take on Coastal Carolina at 11am Central. You can keep track of the stats using this link, or pay to watch the live stream of the game here. This will be the second game in Chanticleer history, as they open their inaugural season against Cincinnati this afternoon. Senior goalie Stephanie Torosian, sophomore midfielder Lily Yednock, and freshman defender Kaitlyn Trodden have been named tri-captains by head coach Jaime Sellers.
