2.6 Around The Big East

Only one game last night, but it involved two members of The Seven, so it's not all bad.

Villanova: redefining "crazy cat lady" since 1920.

Villanova 94, DePaul 71 - Hey, this was a fun first half. Villanova led by as many as seven at one point, but DePaul came roaring back. There were seven ties and three lead changes, and most importantly - scoring! It was locked up at 40 at the half! And then Nova hit their first seven shots of the second half. In fact, they hit on 69% of their shots in the second half, including going 6-7 behind the arc. Ballgame, y'all. Six Wildcats hit for double figures led by Ryan Arcidiacono with 23. Cleveland Melvin had 19 to lead the Blue Demons.

For a team that owns wins over Syracuse and Louisville, this was actually a pretty important win for Villanova. They're sitting at 5-5 in the Big East, and as the only team at .500, they're somehow in 10th place. While the presence of Connecticut in the standings means that the Wildcats are currently the 9 seed in the Big East tournament. More importantly, they've got a full two game lead on Providence for the "honor" of being the best team that will be playing on the first day of the tournament.

You can check in with VU Hoops for more on this game, but in the meantime, how about some highlights from BigEast.org?
