#17 Syracuse 78, DePaul 57 - James Southerland started and posted 22 points to go with 10 rebounds as OH WHO CARES! Go read Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician if you actually need info here. ON TO THE IMPORTANT PART!
Villanova 67, #5 Georgetown 57 - WOO FREAKING HOO! Wells Fargo Center Magic strikes another top five team this season, and this time, it gives Marquette a "Win And Share The Big East Title" opportunity for Saturday night against St. John's. The Wildcats took the lead for good on a Mouphtaou Yarou bucket with 67 seconds left in the first half and finished off the game by hitting 13 of 16 free throws for their only points in the last five minutes of the game. Side note: Villanova's eligible to play NCAA tournament games at the Wells Fargo Center because, as is usually the case when WFC is in the tournament, VU played most of their home games at the Pavilion. Go check out VU Hoops and Casual Hoya for more on the game, while I watch the Villanova bench react to the win.
South Florida 65, Connecticut 51 - Injuries are a bummer. No Shabazz Napier and no Niels Giffey left a gaping hole in UConn's rotation, and the rotation on shots from Omar Calhoun and Ryan Boatright wasn't any good, as they combined to shoot 4-27, including 2-15 behind the arc. DeAndre Daniels brought his A-game for the Huskies, putting up 23 points and 10 rebounds. Victor Rudd (17 points, 12 rebounds) and Martino Brock (18 points on 8-12 shooting) both had outstanding games to get USF their third Big East win of the season.
