Name: Morgan State University

Location: Baltimore, Maryland

Founded: 1867

Enrollment: 6,591 undergraduates

Named For: Reverend Lyttleton Morgan, the first chairman of the board of trustees.

Nickname: Bears

Why "Bears?" Why not?

Last Season: 15-16, with an 11-5 record in the MEAC.  They lost to North Carolina Central in the MEAC tournament final, 71-62.

This Season: 2-10, with the wins coming against Liberty and UC Irvine.  The MEAC has already started conference play, and the Bears started with road losses to Norfolk State and Hampton.

KenPom Ranking: #295

Points Leader: Blake Bozeman, 6'2", 170 lb., 13.0 ppg

Rebounds Leader: Zech Smith, 7'0", 270 lb., 7.4 rpg

Assists Leader: Donte Pretlow, 6'0", 185 lb., 3.6 apg

Head Coach: Todd Bozeman, in his 9th season with Morgan State.  He has a record of 145-126, including two MEAC titles and two NCAA tournament appearances in 2009 and 2010.  Bozeman also had a stint at California that ended in scandal after he admitted to delivering $30,000 to a player's family so they could travel to see him play.  That resulted in an eight year show-cause penalty for Bozeman.  When the games were played, Bozeman was 63-35 at Cal, but due to NCAA sanctions, officially he has a record of 2-53 in his final two seasons.

All Time Series: Marquette leads, 5-0.  All five games have come since the 1988-89 season.

Last Meeting: December 22, 2006, when Marquette won, 77-57.  Jerel McNeal, then a sophomore, had what was at the time a career high of 25 points and matched his then-career high of seven assists in that one.
