Here at Anonymous Eagle, we're hip to all the latest trends on the internet... or so we tell ourselves. We know how much the kids today like to keep in touch and communicate through social media. In particular, we're big fans of the service known the world over as Twitter. Each week, we'll bring you a tweet that we found particularly interesting/funny/thought provoking/ridiculous that has some kind of Marquette connection to it.
Back on Sunday night, Nick Noskowiak, Marquette's only verbal commitment for the fall of 2015, piped up with this tweet:
My man @H22_Cheatham can flat out play! May be a Golden Eagle give this man a follow Marquette fans !!
— Nick Noskowiak (@NickNoskowiak) May 26, 2014
Well, that's nice. Noskowiak giving a shout out to a friend, in this case Haanif Cheatham, that he hopes to play with in the future. Let's check in to Haanif Cheatham a bit here. He's a 6'5" 185 lb. shooting guard from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he attends Pembroke Pines Charter School. Cheatham is ranked #64 in the country by Rivals, 33rd in the country by 247 Sports, and not at all by ESPN, but that's only because they only have a Top 60 for 2015 recruits right now.
Here's the interesting part: Of those three services, only ESPN lists Marquette as an interest. The Worldwide Leader also shows Marquette has having offered Cheatham, though, so that's something. We'd be remiss if we didn't point out that Paint Touches, who always dig deeper than we do on recruiting, included Cheatham on their most recent recruiting roundup.
So what's the deal here? Should we trust ESPN and Paint Touches more here? Is Noskowiak just being hopeful or is he trying to do a little recruiting out in the bright light of day? Or does he know more about what's going on regarding Cheatham's recruitment?
With five open slots for 2015 right now, hopefully we'll learn a lot about MU's future as the summer continues. Of course, if Steve Wojciechowski is going to bring in a guy named Cheatham, we're going to have to request guys named Dewey and Howe, as well.
Have you seen a Marquette related tweet that you'd like to see in this spot in the future? Let us know on Twitter or send the direct URL link to anon.eagle@gmail.com and be sure to send your Twitter tag along with it so we can give you credit for finding it!
