Class of 2015 PF Henry Ellenson's Final Three Schools Includes Marquette

It also includes two blue blood programs, so let's all try to keep a level head... for now.

USA TODAY Sports

It was just a matter of time for Rice Lake's Henry Ellenson made some kind of announcement about limiting the schools he was still considering, and that time was Wednesday evening.

As reported by ESPN's Reggie Rankin and Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook's Mark Miller, Ellenson's list is down to three schools: Kentucky, Marquette, and Michigan State.

First, the good news here is that anybody who considers themselves to be anybody in college hoops had been reaching out to Ellenson.  The 6'10", 230 lb. power forward is ranked #9 in the country according to 247 Sports' composite ranking, and for Marquette to make his final three is fantastic news for new head coach Steve Wojciechowski.  Even better news is that when you look at 247 Sports' Crystal Ball, things are HEAVILY tilted towards the Golden Eagles, including predictions from the aforementioned Mark Miller, 247's own director of scouting Jerry Meyer, CBS Sports' Jeff Borzello, Badger247's Evan Flood, and Zags Blog recruiting writer Jack LeGwin.  Michigan State and Kentucky have a grand total of zero predictions between them, but I would expect that to change in the near future, as people who predicted, say, Duke, or Minnesota, or Wisconsin will be changing their picks.

The flip side of that coin is that no one should fault Ellenson for picking Michigan State or Kentucky.  Two great programs, two proven head coaches, and I'm sure he'll get a quality education for as long as Ellenson actually stays on campus.  There's a lot of things that go in to picking a college, and potentially even more when you're going to be a Division 1 athlete.  Maybe he wants to get away from home for college.  Maybe he wants to spread his wings a bit and not play with AAU teammate Nick Noskowiak or his older brother Wally, both of whom will be Golden Eagles in the fall of 2015.  Maybe he likes John Calipari's track record of putting top 20 prospects into the NBA.  Maybe he likes Tom Izzo's track record of making it to the Final Four.

We have no idea what will be the final decider for Ellenson, and we also don't know when that final decision is coming, although it will probably come after his visit to Marquette on September 26th.  What we do know is that Wally Ellenson is already a Golden Eagle and is enrolled at Marquette right now.  Keep that in mind as we wait to find out where "little" brother Henry will end up going to school...
