2015 Big East Women's Soccer Tournament: Providence 1, DePaul 0

#6 seed Providence knocked off #3 seed DePaul in Chicago on Tuesday afternoon by a final of 1-0.  With the win, the Friars advance to the Big East semifinals this coming Friday in Omaha, while the loss means DePaul will have to wait for the NCAA selection show to see if their season will continue.

After a scoreless first half that had the two teams tied in shots at five each, Providence finally broke through in the 80th minute.  With a ball volleying around the 18 yard box in front of DePaul keeper Alejandria Godinez, PC's Morgan Thomasian fired a shot at the net.  Given the velocity and direction, it seems likely that Godinez was going to swallow that one up for her fifth save of the match.  But Kathryn Hiller stuck her leg out and tipped the ball towards the far post.  Godinez never had a chance to reel the redirection in and keep the match scoreless.

Providence will face off with #2 seed Georgetown in one of the two semifinals on Friday at Creighton's Morrison Stadium.
