On Monday morning, Inside Lacrosse announced their newest Top 20 poll, and unsurprisingly, Marquette has fallen out of the top 10.
Back on Saturday afternoon, the Golden Eagles suffered their first loss of 2015, dropping a 10-9 result at Georgetown. Accordingly, the IL poll voters have dipped MU in their voting. Marquette was ranked #9 in the country last week, but this week, they're down to #12.
With 211 points this week, Marquette is just 19 points behind new #11 Yale, who lost to new #10 Princeton last week. Brown finished in the #13 slot with 198 points as the Bears also suffered their first loss of the season last week.
The Big East still has three teams in the top 20, but it's not the three that you remember. #5 Denver is a familiar face in the national rankings, but the third team is now Georgetown, who have moved in at #14. Villanova drops out of the Top 20 after losing badly to Fairfield on Saturday.
As things stand right now, Marquette won't play another ranked team until they travel to see #2 Notre Dame on April 7th. Of course, Marquette still has home dates schedule against the aforementioned #5 Denver Pioneers as well as #6 Duke.
