Marquette Men's Lacrosse Still Ranked #12 In New Inside Lacrosse Poll

I guess the voters didn't care all that much for Villanova after all?

On Saturday, #12 ranked Marquette picked up a 9-8 win over a Villanova squad that was receiving votes in the Inside Lacrosse poll.  On Monday morning, Inside Lacrosse released a brand new Top 20 as voted on by their cadre of media types.  Marquette is still #12 and Villanova is nowhere to be seen.

*shrug*

Marquette's lone loss on their 8-1 season thus far is to Georgetown, a team that's now ranked #17 in the country after losing to Big East foe #5 Denver over the weekend.  Marquette, Georgetown, and Denver are the only three Big East squads ranked in the top 20, but hey, it's only a six team league, so that's actually pretty good.

The schedule is going to ramp up in difficulty pretty quickly for the Golden Eagles in upcoming weeks.  There's a trip to South Bend to face Notre Dame coming up next week Tuesday, and the Fighting Irish are the new #1 team in the country.  Marquette will host #5 Denver in their regular season finale, and they'll get to host #7 Duke the week before that, too.

Marquette returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they face Bellarmine in Louisville, and the home opener against St. John's is coming up this Saturday.  You can see the whole Inside Lacrosse poll here.
