This past weekend, Marquette competed at the Big East Indoor Track & Field Championships in New York City.  It was a memorable weekend for the program, as both the men's and women's teams posted their best ever team finishes.  Both squads finished in second place, with both squads landing behind Villanova in the final standings.

The men's squad finished with three athletes winning four individual championships.  Marcell KirkmanBey won the 60 meter hurdles, Joel Swanberg won both the pole vault and the heptathlon, and Wally Ellenson won the high jump.  Ellenson set a new Big East record in his event, clearing 7 feet, 3.25 inches, and as a result, Ellenson was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer for the entire meet.
