On Saturday at 1pm, #15 Marquette men's lacrosse will be hosting #6 Duke at Hart Park in Wauwatosa. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network, and more importantly, it will be the first ever HEAD Coaches' Classic in support of the HEADstrong Foundation.
As part of the HEADstrong Foundation's mission to be a resource for cancer patients and their families, Marquette will be wearing special helmets for Saturday's game. Here's some pictures, courtesy of the Marquette Lacrosse Facebook page:
Marquette vs Duke is the perfect game for the HEADstrong Foundation's efforts. The HEADstrong Foundation was founded by Nick Colleluori while he was fighting large B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a battle that Colleluori would eventually lose. He was diagnosed with the disease near the end of his freshman year at Hofstra, where he was coached by both current Duke head coach John Danowski and current Marquette head coach Joe Amplo, who also played for Danowski at Hofstra.
In addition to the helmets, the nets at Hart Park will be strung with lime green nylon, and all the players will be wearing lime green shoestrings as well. Tickets are still available for the game, but it is rapidly approaching a sold out crowd.
