Your New Year’s Eve 2016 College Basketball Viewing Guide & Open Thread!

Oh, right, college football is back. Huzzah.

NCAA Basketball: Akron at Creighton
I’m not saying I’m cheering for Creighton today, but it’d be pretty fun if the Jays won.

Thanks to the Taxslayer Bowl and the ESPN family of networks going haywire with coverage for the College Football Playoff Semifinals starting at 1:30 in the afternoon, there’s actually very little college basketball on national television today. There’s 86 Division 1 games out there, but only nine of them end up on a big broadcast.

I suppose the fact that it’s New Year’s Eve also did not help things when it comes to people scheduling games into the evening hours.

The good news is that five of today’s nationally broadcast games involve a ranked team and three of them are between two ranked opponents. The bad news is that one of those three involves Virginia, so the game is completely unwatchable.

There’s a ton more stuff getting a digital broadcast, so if you find something great, shout it out in the comments section!
